Biogas production from anaerobic digestion of solid microalgae residues generated on different processes of microalgae-to-biofuel production

چکیده

Abstract In this work, the anaerobic digestion of three microalgae ( Chlorella sp., Nannochloropsis and Scenedesmus sp.) their residues, resulting from oil extraction process in situ transesterification reaction for biodiesel production, using two inoculums (sewage sludge poultry manure) biogas production was investigated. It found that oil-extracted residue with sewage reached values ??similar to those obtained raw (around 500 NL kg ?1 VS). Both volume generated its quality produced reflect value be valorized by digestion. This approach based on a biorefinery concept focusing could key technology energy biomass.

Life-cycle assessment of microalgae culture coupled to biogas production.

Due to resource depletion and climate change, lipid-based algal biofuel has been pointed out as an interesting alternative because of the high productivity of algae per hectare and per year and its ability to recycle CO(2) from flue gas. Another option for taking advantage of the energy content of the microalgae is to directly carry out anaerobic digestion of raw algae in order to produce metha...

2. Production of Biogas by Anaerobic Digestion

Anaerobic digestion is a natural process in which bacteria convert organic materials into biogas. It occurs in marshes and wetlands, and in the digestive tract of ruminants. The bacteria are also active in landfills where they are the principal process degrading landfilled food wastes and other biomass. Biogas can be collected and used as a potential energy resource. The process occurs in an an...

Modeling anaerobic digestion of microalgae using ADM1.

The coupling between a microalgal pond and an anaerobic digester is a promising alternative for sustainable energy production by transforming carbon dioxide into methane using solar energy. In this paper, we demonstrate the ability of the original ADM1 model and a modified version (based on Contois kinetics for the hydrolysis steps) to represent microalgae anaerobic digestion. Simulations were ...
